We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose primary purpose is to promote and preserve a high degree of community and education, student interest, support, and sponsorship of German language and culture in the Southern United States youth population defined as grades four through twelve. Our key objectives are to:

• Enhance the education of underserved students in the SYGEA through volunteer service and financial support.
• Support the teaching staff to further the understanding of the German language and culture.
• Foster international understanding between Germany and the United States.
• Encourage total community participation in the organization.
• Assist interested and/or underserved community members learning German through tutoring.
• The club shall be a non-profit organization, and shall also be nonpartisan, non-shareholding, non-commercial and non-bargaining.
• The SYGEA works to achieve these goals through active participation of as many individuals as possible, working closely with teachers and administrators.
• To support, promote, and maintain a high standard of integrity in all activities.
• To foster and promote good will and fraternal spirit among the German education community.
• To promote and encourage more students to get involved in German, either as an active participant or as a volunteer assistant.
